Strategic Plans
Welshpool Town Council’s Strategic Plans set out our long-term priorities and the actions we will take to improve services, facilities and opportunities in the town.
Our current plan is the Interim Strategic Plan 2025–2028, which focuses on what matters most to local people and how the Council will respond over the next three years.
Interim Strategic Plan 2025–2028
Welshpool Town Council has published its Interim Strategic Plan 2025–2028, setting out our priorities for the next three years.
The plan has been shaped directly by the views of the community. During our summer consultation, we received over 1,000 comments from residents, businesses and community groups. People were asked about a wide range of services — including the Town Hall, markets, open spaces, community services, events, and how the Council itself can improve.
All feedback was carefully analysed and summarised in our Engagement Report, which underpins the plan and has directly influenced its priorities and actions.
The draft plan was considered by all Council committees and formally approved by Full Council on 24 September 2025.
Our five key themes
The Interim Strategic Plan is built around five themes that reflect what people told us matters most in Welshpool:
Town Centre & Regeneration
Delivering a modern, accessible Town Hall and supporting vibrant markets and town centre activity.
Open Spaces
Investing in parks, play areas, and key sites such as the Motte & Bailey.
Community Services
Protecting and developing essential services including public toilets, Meals on Wheels, the Ann Holloway Day Centre, and promoting allotments.
Events & Tourism
Enhancing town events and developing Welshpool as a place to visit.
Improving the Council
Strengthening communication, transparency, community engagement and long-term financial sustainability.
Shaped by Welshpool
We would like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation. Your views have directly influenced this plan and will continue to guide how we deliver services and invest in the town over the coming years.
